Bokisch Garnacha This fruity, floral variety is one of the most drinkable wines in the Mediterranean. In Spain it is known as "Garnacha," while in France it is known as "Grenache". Both countries agree that its delightful aromas and appealing flavors make it a favorite from the Rhone to the Rioja. An important grape varietal for red wine, Garnacha withstands extreme heat and has done very well in California. The grape has a thin skin with little pigment in it, which makes it very suitable for rosé. The red wines that are made of Garnacha can sometimes lack color. The grape ripens slowly and thus may develop a high level of sugar. The wines of Garnacha are characterized by a very fruity, almost sweet taste. You will detect blackberry and some pepper. Throughout the many winemaking regions of Spain, Garnacha is the most planted red wine variety. It is one of the ingredients of the famous Spanish wine Vega Sicilia. Bokisch Garnacha is grown on the volcanic red soils of the Clements Hills east of Lodi. It is barrel aged in neutral French Oak for 8 months. Our tasting notes reveal luscious fruity flavors of strawberry, black cherry and hints of rose petals. Enjoy everyday with light fare, appetizers and grilled summer vegetables. |
