Italy’s Abruzzo region boasts high mountains at its western edge, miles of beaches along the Adriatic at its eastern edge and extensive farming on the hills in between. Grape growing has a long tradition here, however wine production was historically oriented to quantity rather than quality.
Rino Moretti is an enologist who has promoted high quality in this region since the early 1970s when he managed production at Casal Thaulero. He worked for other wineries throughout his career, finally starting his own, Villa Cervia, in 1989. With company-owned vineyards and contracts with many local growers, Moretti now produces a broad range of still and sparkling wines. |
