Wachau
Kartauserhof

The estate was originally built in 1380 as the wine estate of the Carthusian Monastery in Aggsbach, hence the name. The Stierschneider family acquired the Kartauserhof estate in 1862. In the three generations since, the estate has expanded to include 7 hectares of top vineyard sites, primarily on rock terraces with a southern exposure, with inclines as steep as 60%, and has increased production size to about 100,000 bottles a year.

42% of the vineyards are planted to Riesling, followed by Gruner Veltliner at 38% and red varietals at 10%.  The vineyards are located in the south exposed terraces of Rieden Achleiten, Klaus, Weitenberg, Hinterkirchen, Steinriegl and Pichl-Point. A member of Vinea Wachau.
